That metal aviary is pretty handy, its divided up into three cages with three doors, its set on top of two courses of bricks that are layed straight and level, more soil is added to the inside and it doesnt flood, reptiles then have natural ground. That big aviary with the posts i dont know what i was thinking when i built that, thought i was working on the harbour bridge or something, over the top for the bluetongues that are in it,make a good chook or monitor enclosure.

Is that a commercially made aviary or a custom one? (The divided one, not the Taj Mahal one)
That's the sort of thing I've been thinking for my blueys too, as my yard isn't level, so I could run some bricks around the base to get it level to build the aviary on. I was thinking of running some bluestone or something under the bricks to allow for drainage, or perhaps to just leave the mortar out (vertically) between a few bricks on the lowest course on the downhill side, the resulting gap would only be 5-10mm or so.
I'm considering building the aviary myself, rather than a commercially available one, they seem somewhat expensive for what they are. There are occasionally good ones that pop up on eBay though.

Taj Mahal LOL ,come and have a look some time Sock, the idea of buiding the aviary up on a brick base is it allows you to fill the centre with dirt and if you slope it the water runs off and through the wire.
Ive got some eastern bluetongues a blotchy and landmullet in the midde cage and theres no problem when we had lots of rain.
Generally you face the aviary to the north and shelter the west for the summer heat.
Even in the Taj Mahal there is little problem in wet weather, when we had all that rain that flooded newcastle years back, you build the soil up where you have hides.
The metal aviary is from colonel western sheds and you can have them delivered and errect it yourself, works out the most cost effective method.
Aways plenty of ways to do things sock, whatever flys ya kite.
